Rhinestone cowgirl: A Drunken Stampers Challenge

What did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a trucker.

Sounds odd, I know, but remember that when I was a kid the world revolved around Smokey and the Bandit. So, you were the slap sticky Sheriff, the runaway bride, the player in a sports car or the truck driver.

Now that you've read all of that you might think my trucking aspirations seem even less appropriate: How is it that I identified with the skinny guy driving the big rig?

Because, my friends, he was the only one with a dog!

If the Bandit's sidekick had been a big black lab, or the Sheriff's chase car came with a droopy-faced hound dog: Well, honestly things wouldn't be much different except I'd be here now telling you how I wanted to be a criminal or a Sheriff.

Luckily some young girls have bigger dreams, and awful big boots to fill: They are our Rhinestone Cowgirls, and the focus of this week's Drunken Stampers' challenge!

Look at that ... I got to the point in less than 175 words!

So, I lucked out and found this adorable "cowgirl" over at The Graphics Fairy (have you been by yet to visit with Karen? You'll love her!).

One bit later, after adding an inked and embossed chipboard frame, colored-pencil highlights, grunge paper boots and a silver star brad ... Yeehaw! A future Reno Rodeo Queen!

Give us a look at your own little butt kicker before Friday, March 4 at midnight!

  2. I wanted to be an astronaut, but my complete lack of mathematical skills ended that dream. I like that you wanted to grow up to be Jerry Reed, though. That's cool. That's a big 10-4, in fact.

Did you like BJ and the Bear, too? Just curious...

But enough of the 1970s. Your Rodeo Queen is the cutest thing I've seen this week (it even topped the monkey hugging a kitten photo at cuteoverload.com). That little girl is adorable, and her big 'ol boots and rosy cheeks make her even cuter. I love this card.

And, I love the idea of you driving' a big rig. Good buddy.

  3. The little Rodeo Queen image is so sweet. Just loving those boots and your embossed frame is marvelous! I wanted to be a clothes designer or artist! I use to draw clothes designs and did abstract art for fun. Well I grew up, married young and did make clothes. Did design wearable vest with quite a bit of detail, but never wear them. And have worked with paints and now this! Guess I lived up to my childhood dreams!
